How to make your own Washi tape

Did you know you could make your own washi tape??? It is fairly easy, slightly messy, but lots of fun.

Step 1: Grab some tape.  I have used standard scotch tape and also clear moving tape.
Step 2: Grab a piece of pattern paper that you want to use as washi tape.  The above piece is from Echo Parks Sweet Day Collection, little hint of what my August projects will contain.

Step 3: Now run your tape across the paper.  You can make it up to 12".
Step 4:  Take a bowl filled with water and submerge your taped piece of paper into the water.  If it folds up don't worry.  I find the longer it sits the easier the paper comes off.

Step 5: Start peeling off the back.  This part is a little time consuming, but just keep rubbing.  All the backing will come off.

Step 6: Your finished product.  Of course the backing will no longer have any sticky material but I have found that Glue and Seal works great to adhere the tape to your project.

Here is a little sneak of how I used a piece of this self made washi tape...I actually painted the back side of the tape to make the pattern pop out.
